    With the advent in display technology, the 3DTV will provide a new viewing experience without the need of wearing special glasses to watch the 3D scenes. One of the key elements in 3DTV is the multi-view video coding; obtained from a set of synchronized cameras, capture the same scene from different viewpoints. The video streams are synchronized and subsequently used to exploit the redundancy contained among video sources. A multi-view video consists of components for data acquisition, compression, transmission and display. This paper outlines the design and implementation of a multi-view video system for transmission over a wireless channel.     In this paper, we describe a smart surveillance system to detect human faces in stereo images with applications to advanced video surveillance systems. The system utilizes two smart IP cameras to obtain the position and location of the object that is a human face. The position and location of the object are extracted from two IP cameras and subsequently transmitted to a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera, which can point to the exact position in space. This work involves video analytics for estimating the location of the object in a 3D environment and transmitting its positional coordinates to the PTZ camera. The research consists of algorithm development in surveillance system including face detection, stereo matching, location estimation and implementation with ACTi PTZ camera.     In this paper, we describe a system for smart surveillance using stereo images with applications to advanced video surveillance systems. The system utilizes two smart IP cameras to obtain the position and location of objects. In this case, the object target is human face. The position and location of the object are automatically extracted from two IP cameras and subsequently transmitted to an ACTi Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera, which then points and zooms to the exact position in space.     This paper describes the implementation of the wavelet codec: (encoder and decoder) by using the Texas Instruments DSP (digital signal processor) TMS320C6701 on the EVM (evaluation module) board. The wavelet codec is used to compress and decompress gray scale images for real time data compression. The wavelet codec algorithm has been transferred into C and assembly code in the Code Composer Studio in order to program the 'C6xx DSP. The capability of the 'C6xx to change the code easily, correct or update applications, reduces the development time, cost and power consumption.     There are various types of existing stereo matching algorithms on image processing which applied on stereo vision images to get better results of disparity depth map. One of them is the dynamic programming method. On this research is to perform an evaluation on the performance between the dynamic programming with other existing method as comparison. The algorithm used on the dynamic programming is the global optimization which provides better process on stereo images like its accuracy and its computational efficiency compared to other existing stereo matching algorithms. The dynamic programming algorithm used on this research is the current method as its disparity estimates at a particular pixel and all the other pixels unlike the old methods which with scanline based of dynamic programming. There will be details on every existing methods presented on this paper with the comparison between the dynamic programming and the existing methods. This can propose the dynamic programming method to be used on many applications in image processing

    In this paper, a multi-view video system for wireless applications will be presented. The system consists of components for data acquisition, compression, transmission and display. The main feature of the system includes wireless video transmission system for up to four cameras, by which videos can be acquired, encoded and transmitted wirelessly to a receiving station. The video streams can be displayed on a single 3D or on multiple 2D displays. The encoding for the multi-view video through inter-view and temporal redundancies increased the compression rates. The H.264/AVC multi-view compression techniques has been exploited and tested during the implementation process. The video data is then transmitted over a simulated Rayleigh channel through Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial (DVB-T) system with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). One of the highlights in this paper is the low cost implementation of a multi-view video system, which using only typical web cameras attached to a single PC

    Disparity Refinement based on Depth Image Layers Separation for Stereo Matching Algorithms

    This paper presents a method to improve the raw disparity maps in the disparity refinement stage for stereo matching algorithm. The proposed algorithm will use the disparity depth map from the stereo matching algorithm as initial disparity depth output with a basic similarity metric of SAD. The similarity metric finds the pixel points between the left and right under the fixed window (FW) searching process. With this approach, the raw disparity depth map obtained is not smooth and contained errors particularly with the depth discontinuities and unable to detect the uniform areas and repetitive patterns. The initial disparity depth will be used to identify the layers of disparity depth map by adapting the Depth Image Layers Separation (DILS) algorithm that separate the layers of depth based on disparity range. Each particular disparity depth map distributed along the disparity range and can be divided into several layers. The layer will be mapped to segmented reference image to refine the disparity depth map.
